Interview with NE-10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert PDF Print E-mail
On May 1, 2008 Dr. George J. Hagerty, Chair of the Northeast-10 Council of Presidents, announced the appointment of Julie Ruppert as the new Commissioner of the Northeast-10 Conference. Ruppert follows David Brunk, former commissioner of the Northeast-10 and interim commissioner Paula Sullivan, athletic director at Stonehill College, as the fifth commissioner in the conference's history.

Ruppert joined the Northeast-10 after spending the past 15 years with the America East Conference, a Division I conference located in Cambridge, Mass. The America East consists of nine institutions; University of Albany, Binghamton University, Boston University, University of Hartford, University of Maine, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), University of New Hampshire, Stony Brook University and the University of Vermont.

In March of 2005, Ruppert was named Senior Associate Commissioner of the America East where she administered all policies and procedures of the Conference, including regular season and game management policies for the conference's 22 sports. Among her other duties, Ruppert oversaw the direction of the conference championship programs along with being the liaison to the Athletic Director's Council, the Senior Women Advisor (SWA) Committee, the Championships & Competition Committee and the Finance Committee.

Prior to her time as Senior Associate Commissioner, Ruppert was the Associate Commissioner of the America East from 1996 until her present appointment in 2005. She managed the conference awards program, developed and oversaw regular season league schedules for men's and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball and baseball. In addition, Ruppert coordinated the administration and planning of the America East's 22 conference championships, including all aspects of the men's and women's basketball championships.

Ruppert began her tenure at the America East in 1993 as the Assistant Commissioner. Prior to that, she was an intern with the Eastern Conference Athletic Conference. A graduate of Middlebury College, Ruppert holds a degree of Arts in Political Science with an American Literature concentration
