Quinnipiac Athletics Announces Fall Academic Success |

January 22, 2008 - HAMDEN, Conn. – For the first time in Quinnipiac history, every varsity team at Quinnipiac posted a grade-point average of 2.50 or higher for the fall semester, while 13 of Quinnipiac’s 21varsity teams posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Collectively, all of Quinnipiac’s student-athletes posted a combined 3.04 GPA for the semester.
“This semester was an excellent one for our athletes,” assistant athletic director for academic support Lyneene Richardson said. “They have done a great job at balancing academics and athletic responsibilities. This semester all of our teams posted a team grade-point average of 2.5.”
Of Quinnipiac’s 425 student-athletes, 242 posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher, while seven student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. 98 Quinnipiac student-athletes, with GPA’s of 3.5 or higher, were also named to the Dean’s List.
Men’s soccer freshman Rodrigo Uchoa, cross country senior Sasha Varanka, women’s lacrosse sophomore Lyndsey Banach, field hockey seniors Ann Marie Mangano and Megan Dahle, women’s soccer graduate student Chloe Beizer, and softball senior Carolyn Schmolz all earned 4.0 GPA’s.
In addition, the men’s and women’s soccer teams were both recognized by the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America as one of 414 national teams to post a grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher. The Bobcats were one of 114 men’s teams while the women’s side held the remaining 300 schools. Collectively, Quinnipiac was one of 74 schools to have both the men’s and women’s teams honored by the NSCAA.
