NFF Honors Three College Football Hall of Fame Inductees with Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes, presented by Fidelity Investments
Three members of the 2011 College Football Hall of Fame class were honored with NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes presented by Fidelity Investments on Saturday. West Virginia linebacker Darryl Talley was honored during the Mountaineers' game with LSU, and his salute was shown to a national primetime audience on ABC. Arizona defensive lineman Rob Waldrop's salute was shown on ESPN during the first half of the Wildcats' game with Oregon, and NFF COO Matthew Sign accompanied inductee Bill Enyart for his salute as Oregon State hosted UCLA.
NFF to Conduct Three Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes, presented by Fidelity Investments, on Saturday
The NFF will honor 2011 College Football Hall of Fame inductees Carlos Alvarez (Florida), Clendon Thomas (Oklahoma) and coach Mike Kelly (Dayton) on Saturday. Two of the contests will be televised: No. 12 Florida hosts No. 2 Alabama at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and No. 1 Oklahoma will face Ball State at 7 p.m. ET on Fox Sports Pay-Per-View. Dayton will play host to Butler at 1 p.m. ET.

1996 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Pat Fitzgerald (Texas) has been chosen to the University of Texas Athletics Hall of Honor, along with fellow football players Lance Gunn and Bill Zaplac.
Miami (Ohio) will unveil statues of College Football Hall of Fame coaches Ara Parseghian, Bo Schembechler and NFF co-founder Earl "Red" Blaik, along with former Miami (Ohio), Yale, Indiana and Northwestern head coach John Pont. Those statues will join the previously-unveiled statues of College Football Hall of Fame coach Carm Cozza, Weeb Ewbank and Paul Dietzel.
NCAA Football has announced a fellowship with EA Sports to give two post-graduate former football players a sixteen week full-time fellowship to work on the gaming company's NCAA Football game, beginning in January of 2012. College Football Hall of Fame coach John Robinson, along with former players Anthony Calvillo (Utah State) and Steven Jackson (Oregon State) and bowl founder Rossi Ralenkotter, will form the inaugural MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Hall of Fame.
San Diego State, led by athletics director Jim Sterk, has joined the NFF as an Institutional Academic Member.
Leo Dillon (Dayton) has joined the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Alumni Association.
The NFF will announce this Thursday the semifinalists for the 2011 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards presented by Fidelity Investments via a national press release and at FootballFoundation.org.

The NFF Memphis Chapter is hosting the Third Annual Bill McElroy Golf Tournament on Oct. 31. Former Arkansas State head coach Larry Lacewell will be the featured speaker. . . . The NFF Tom Lombardo/St. Louis Chapter will host a kickoff luncheon on Wednesday. St. Louis Rams general manager Billy Devaney will be the featured speaker. . . . The NFF Colorado Chapter is selecting a college player of the week from the 10 programs in the state and producing a weekly newsletter that provides a comprehensive look at collegiate action in the Centennial State.

Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley appeared as a guest analyst on College Football Today on CBS. . . . The Sept. 17 game between Penn State and Temple drew a 1.6 national television rating, the highest-rated game in Temple football history. . . . Ratings for the Sept. 16 game between Boise State and Toledo earned a 2.2 rating, making it the most-watched game from a MAC stadium in conference history.
Facilities
UAB has submitted plans for an on-campus football stadium. The first phase of approval could come as early as November. . . . Long Island University - C.W. Post (N.Y.) has launched fundraising for its new football, lacrosse and field hockey stadium. The facility will open in 2012.

109-of-120 FBS coaching staffs donned Coach to Cure MD patches this weekend in an effort between the American Football Coaches Association and Parent Project MD. Donations are expected to once again top $1 million. . . . Head coach Frank Beamer and the Virginia Tech football team announced a fundraiser selling pink bracelets to raise breast cancer awareness for the second consecutive season.

Iowa State has set a school record for season ticket sales. . . Washington State is allowing fans to decide what uniforms the Cougars will don for its homecoming game with Stanford on Oct. 15. . . . South Carolina has unveiled its Wounded Warrior Project uniforms designed by UnderArmour for its game with Auburn on Saturday. Texas Tech will wear Wounded Warrior uniforms on Nov. 12 against Oklahoma State, and South Florida will don its version on Nov. 19 versus Miami (Fla.). . . . Former head coach Tom Bryant and offensive lineman Alan Dunn entered the Tusculum Athletics Hall of Fame last week. . . . Former running back Dr. Alan White and former offensive lineman Paul Kiser will enter the Wake Forest University Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 7. . . . Matt Sellitto was recently inducted to the Wesley College (Del.) Athletics Hall of Fame.
Obituaries
Tony Knap, the winningest coach in UNLV history, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25. He was 96. . . . Burl Autry, the former head coach at Vintage High School and the 1994 NFF Northern California Chapter Contribution to Amateur Football recipient, died Sept. 25. He was 78. . . . Fred Bleil, the former head coach at New Mexico Highlands and assistant coach at North Texas, San Diego State, Tulane and Utah State, passed away last week at 62.
