Owls Prevalent In This Week’s NCAA Football Statistical Rankings
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University football team, as well as several individual student-athletes, continue to rank among the NCAA Division II leaders in this week’s statistical rankings.
As a team, the Owls are currently ranked No. 6 nationally in rushing defense (65.8 yards per game), 12th in scoring offense (42 points/game) and 18th in turnover margin (+1).
Despite a three touchdown effort last time out against Pace, senior running back Rashaad Slowley (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) dropped one spot to No. 2 in Division II in scoring with an average of 18 points per game. Slowley has already totaled 12 touchdowns for the Owls this season. He also ranks No. 11 in the nation in rushing yards per game (120.5).
Senior wide receiver Andre Privott (Middletown, Conn.) is tied for 10th with an average of 7.5 receptions per contest and is 11th in receiving yards per game with 103.8 per outing. He leads the Owls with 30 catches through four games.
Junior defensive back Steven Teague (Hamden, Conn.) is tied for 12th in interceptions per game with an average of 1.0 per contest.
Graduate student wide receiver/returner D’yonne Crudup (New Haven, Conn.) ranks 14th in yards/punt return with an average of 17 per return.
The Owls (3-1, 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference) return to action on Saturday for a road game at Assumption.
