HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University junior Kaitlyn Notarianni (Clarks Summit, Pa.) has been named the Northeast Conference Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Notarianni recorded her first-career hat trick, resulting in the Bobcats’ first season-opening win since 2005. PRINCETON, N.J. -- All eight Ivy League women’s soccer teams take to the pitch this week, kicking off the 2010 season. Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn and Yale all host their season openers on Friday, Sept. 3. Princeton travels to in-state rival, Rutgers, while Brown and Columbia travel to take part in tournament action. PRINCETON, N.J. –- The 56th season of Ivy League men's soccer begins this weekend as all eight Ivy League schools open their respective schedules with non-conference games. Brown University has the honor of kicking things off for the Ivies as the Bears open the season with a 3:30 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 3 versus Bryant University in the first round of the inaugural Ocean State Soccer Classic. The high school football teams are gearing up for the run to Rentschler Field the new home for the CIAC football championship games.  Along with the comforts of the new site teams will be competing within a new playoff format. There will be four Division Champions by year-end. The road to the championship will feature quarterfinal round games, semifinal games and the ultimate goal the championship games.  A total of thirty-two teams will qualify for the tournament. NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics coach Jerry Nelson has announced that seniors Justine Basley (Danielson, Conn.), Samantha Laraway (Watervliet, N.Y.) and junior Arianna Mallardi (Norwalk, Conn.) have been named team captains for the 2011 season. The Owls were ranked No. 25 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll. Previously, the Owls were ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA regional poll.
