Six Owls Qualify For NCAA Championships
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Six members of the Southern Connecticut State University men’s outdoor track and field team – seniors Richard Jackson (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Ryan Whitehead (Darien, Conn.), junior Joseph Poulsen (Oxford, Conn.), sophomores Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) and Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) and freshman Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) – have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held from May 27-29 in Charlotte, N.C.
Lumax (800 meters) and Whitehead (pole vault) both collected All-America honors at the 2010 Indoor Championships and will look to duplicate that feat.
Poulsen has qualified in the 3000 meter steeplechase, while Jackson made the cut in the 400 meters.
The quartet of Jackson, Lumax, Jean-Baptiste and Sharpe will take part in the 4x400 relay.
The Owls enter the NCAA Championships sitting No. 1 in the region in the USTFCCCA Regional rankings
Laura Brustolon and Letecia Taylor Qualify For NCAA Championships
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Seniors Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.) and Letecia Taylor (Plainfield, N.J.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s outdoor track and field team have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held from May 27-29 in Charlotte, N.C.
Both student-athletes are multiple repeat qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. Taylor has already collected All-America honors on three occasions to date.
Taylor will compete in both the 100 and 400 meter hurdles. Brustolon will take part in the 1,500 meters.
The Owls enter the NCAA Championships sitting No. 1 in the region in the USTFCCCA Regional rankings.
